This looks almost like something Aztec to me. Like something you would see drawn or carved on a mountain for people to find centuries later.
Good imagination eh?
Well I do see a few things, but that was the first impression I got looking at this piece.

Well, my first thought was a bird, but since everyone else is seeing that, I'll say I see a Nazgul rider attacking a horse from Rohan. It must have already knocked the rider off, since I only see the horse's head. Anyone guess what we're reading at my house? :-)

I also can see the phoenix, but if I look at this piece another way, I can see a beautiful iris bloom growing diagonally from lower left to upper right. Gorgeous!
